Jackie Martinez, RN, BSN, Doula

Welcome to Lilacs In Bloom! My name is Jackie. I am wife to an amazing firefighter, mother of 3, and Labor and Delivery nurse turned Birth and Postpartum Doula. At a very young age I fell in love with the spirituality of birth and began to understand the importance of supported maternal-child wellness during the postpartum period. As a teenager I attended various midwifery conferences and home births with my mother. Those early experiences helped shape my core values as they relate to childbirth and women’s health.

In 2009 I graduated from nursing school and immediately began a career in labor and delivery. Over the years I’ve cared for hundreds of patients in labor and their babies. Throughout my career I have always strived to help women follow their instincts and intuition during their labor, delivery and beyond. Although most of my experience has been in the hospital, I chose to deliver all three of my children at home (and I was also born at home).

I believe every pregnant woman deserves a supportive, nurturing and knowledgeable guide to help them feel empowered during their labor, delivery and into that very special 4th trimester. Whether you’re planning to deliver in a hospital, birth center or at home, I would love to be that person for you. I offer a unique blend of clinical knowledge to help you understand and navigate possible medical interventions but also a keen feminine intuition to help support and guide you on a more holistic and spiritual path during your pregnancy, birth and beyond. I hope to connect with you soon!

Annie Guevara, Doula

Hi, I’m Annie—founder of Doulacta.

Becoming a parent is more than a life change—it’s a transformation of identity, emotions, and priorities. This process, known as matrescence, deserves to be honored and supported every step of the way.

For the past five years, I’ve been immersed in the world of postpartum care—first through my own experience as a mom of two, and then by walking alongside other families as they step into parenthood. I’m a Postpartum Doula and Lactation Educator through UC San Diego Extension, offering one-on-one care and leading free weekly breastfeeding support groups in San Diego, California—and virtually around the world.

But my path to this work started in a very different place. After earning my degree in Economics and Business, I worked in Bogotá, Colombia, at Fondo Acción, where I led a community ecotourism program and supported RedLAC, a network of more than 20 nonprofits across Latin America and the Caribbean. Later, I earned my MBA at UC Irvine and joined the Leadership Development Program at Niagara Bottling, rotating through Sales, HR, Quality Control, and Manufacturing.

Even though I was building a career I was proud of, it wasn’t until I became a mother that I discovered my true calling: supporting and coaching families through one of life’s most meaningful transitions.

That’s how Doulacta was born—from the belief that when new parents feel confident, cared for, and connected, they set the stage for a more loving, resilient, and connected next generation.
